The Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA) ensures the protection of energy consumers, ensuring the proper provision of quality services and the proper information of the public on its rights and benefits.
The European Union, in its effort to strengthen protection and upgrading the rights of energy consumers, and in particular vulnerable consumers, has adopted European Directives 2009/72/EC and 2009/73/EC on electricity and gas. These directives form part of the EU's 3rd Energy Package, with which national legislation was harmonized on 28 December 2012.
The European Council of Energy Regulators (CEER), with the support of the National Regulatory Authorities, has set up a new website dedicated to informing energy consumers. The new website is:
